About the position

Due to our continued growth we have an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated Intern Bioinformatician willing to work on the development of a Bioinformatic pipeline supporting one of Spadix’s technology platforms.

We are looking for

A highly driven motivated candidate with knowledge of Python, Linux and NGS technologies. Additional knowledge of or feeling for plant genomics, Perl, R, distributed source code version control systems (Git or Mercurial) are of benefit.

As an Intern Bioinformatician you are amongst others responsible for the development of an analysis pipeline needed to support one of Spadix’s technology platforms.

Your profile

  • BSc/MSc student in bioinformatics or related study
  • Available for a period of 5-9 months
  • Feeling for pipeline development

About the position

Due to our continued growth we have an exciting opportunity for a Research Assistant willing to contribute to the development of Spadix’s technology platforms and executing custom projects. The appointed Research Assistant will work in close collaboration with the Chief Scientific Officer and the bioinformatics department of Spadix.

We are looking for
A highly motivated and results-orientated candidate with experience working in a research setting. Knowledge of NGS technologies is essential. Additional experience in plant genomics, plant pathogen interaction and technology development are of benefit. The candidate should have a no-nonsense attitude, be able to work well independently and within a team.  Furthermore the candidate is able to meet strict deadlines.

As a Research Assistant your responsibilities include: 

  • responsible for the development and execution of Spadix’s technology strategy to ensure that Spadix services can technically satisfy short and long-term market needs in the field of molecular plant breeding;
  • executing technology development projects as well as custom projects;
  • maintain up-to-date knowledge of technology standards, industry trends, emerging technologies by attending relevant conferences and reading scientific literature.

Your profile 

  • Relevant BSc/MSc degree in plant biotechnology, -genetics or a related discipline.
  • Desired experience in plant biotechnology.
  • Experience with project management.
  • Ability to handle a large variety of hands-on tasks in the laboratory both in an application as in a research setting.
  • A flexible team player and willing to contribute to the further growth and success of Spadix.
  • Excellent communication skills and command of the English language, both verbal and written.

About the position

Due to our continued growth we have an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated Chief Scientific Officer willing to lead the strategy for Spadix’s future technology platforms, partnerships and external relationships. The appointed CSO will be a key member of the Spadix Management Team providing strong scientific, operational and strategic leadership.

As Chief Scientific Officer your responsibilities include:

  • Responsible for the development and execution of Spadix’s technology strategy to ensure that Spadix services can technically satisfy short and long-term market needs in the field of molecular plant breeding.
  • To share knowledge, mentor and educate the organization’s management, staff, partners, customers and stakeholders with regard to the company technological vision, opportunities and challenges.
  • Executing and managing internal and external projects.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of technology standards, industry trends, emerging technologies by scouting activities, attending relevant conferences and reading scientific literature.
  • Develop and implement teams, strategies and budgets driving business impact, operational efficiency across Spadix’s technological platforms.
  • Network across Spadix’s organization to leverage technical and people resources.

Your profile

  • Relevant MSc/PhD degree in plant biotechnology, genetics or a related discipline with at least 5 years of work experience in the field of plant breeding.
  • Desired experience in ornamental plant biotechnology and relevant bioinformatics.
  • Experience with project management.
  • Ability to handle a large variety of activities from project management to hands-on tasks in the laboratory.
  • Team player and willing to build on the ambition of Spadix.
  • Excellent communication skills and command of the English language, both verbal and written.
  • Entrepreneurial attitude and proven leadership skills.
